...brussel sprout!
Time flies when you are having fun hey!
It's been a busy start to the year and doesn't look like slowing down anytime soon. Isn't that the way as you age :( Remember how school holidays, and even weekends seemed to last forever...aaaah the bliss.
At primary school I remember kids being cranky cos it was raining as we headed home on a Friday afternoon "Awww, no, raining all weekend! Not fair!", I'd be thrilled, yay, I'm gonna tuck myself up somewhere with a book - yippee!!
That's still the same there tho, Hubby is working on our boat, apparently there is stuff that he has to do that requires it NOT to be raining, which it has been doing here consistently since....oh I don't know....1993 it seems like! So yeah, the rain is making him not happy Jan! And me, I've got a book or three to read, sorry, did you say it was raining?
Unsure as to how happy Eldest would have been last night, it bucketed down for most of the night, and he was on his first Air Force Cadet camp, in a tent, in a soggy field, with two sad little plastic rain poncho things (cos the dude at the hardware was sold out of the good ones!). Ah who am I kidding, he has a bag of marshmallows, he's probably happy as a little boy piglet in mud!
I have been learning lots about my camera, and taking lots more photos, not doing so muh scrapping, but wanting to play with my photos. Youngest yelled at me this week to 'Stop taking my photo!', but she's so cute! Specially when she is yelling at me :) Last night during a tickle fest she shouted 'I love you Mum!' (my heart melts) 'Awwww, I love you too!', 'But Mum, I don't love you when you are tickling me!'......meh, not gonna stop you gettin tickled little one! Ha!
Hubby went out for coffee this morning...and brought back Chocolate Bunnies for breakfast, cos he could :) Youngest wanted to know if I was going to eat mine? Yeah, nice try shortie!
Middle has been a sick little pumpkin this term, Asthma, Chest Infection, Tonsilitis, the dreaded Vomiting Bug which hit all the girls of the house - blech!
I want to pump some healthy in to her, she's not a happy sick person, pillows and blankets and the remote control, a yummy drink.....nope none of these things make her happy when she is unwell. 'Don't touch my hair Mama, you're making it hurt!'. Oooookay, sympathy train is leaving the station......
Enough babbling, there is a day to be had, a camera class (shared with good friends) to attend, a lamb roast to be roasted (really slowly, all afternoon long, with nothing more than salt and pepper on top, oh yeeeeeaaaah!), kiddly stinks to be played with, a boy child to be wondered about till we pick him up tomorrow afternoon (doesn't matter that he is like a foot taller than me already - how does that happen?!) and fingers to be crossed that the sun I see out my window is here to stay for awhile cos Hubby is at the boat....and I have laundry to dry!

How's it going?
Well, it's going...... not quite sure where or how, but the wheels haven't fallen all the way off yet, so we're still going.
I kinda lost my way a little bit, hmmm, readng too many other people's blogs and trying to figure out what I should be writing....when all I should be writing is what is mine, what is in my mind, what is in my heart, what is in my life.
Not to say I'll be all deep and meaningful...well not all the time, although, I could probably get away with that here, most of my friends think I am this laidback, casual, not too bothered chick...and I can be, sometimes I wonder that they can't hear the screaming and freaking out going on in my head! Really, how does nobody hear that?
But no, I get 'You are super mum, how do you do all that?'....even when I answer 'Badly!' it is laughed off, I put up my hand for help once...and they laughed, only I wasn't joking.
Aaaaah, it's not that bad, would be better if I wasn't such a lazy so and so, I can do it. And bloody well better....before the wheels get any more wobbly.
I've cleaned out one pantry this morning, on to the second ('cept I am blogging!), may be the pot cupboard after that, and back to work tomorrow. Blech.
Better get some more laundry out while the sun is here, plenty of cloud about so I expect some more rain before long, as if we haven't had enough of that to last for a good long while.
Happy New Year... :)

It's been a week that I don't care to repeat...
...our cat died. We bought Tigger from a Burmese breeder for our son's 5th birthday. He had nagged us for a whole year, pretty impressive persistence from a 4 year old!
Hubby is more of a dog person really so he wasn't all that excited by the idea, then he said we could get a cat, as long as it wasn't a plain old moggy. So we researched and decided a Burmese would suit us best.
Tigger thought he was part dog I'm sure, he would talk his head off as soon as we walked in the door. He would follow us around the place - this was his undoing.
Tigger didn't like to be cold, so he would jump up next to you and nip at your sleeve as if to pull it over himself....usually he got skin!
One night he had been playing leapfrog on Hubby and my heads, Hubby had enough and grabbed Tigger to throw him off the bed, Tigger held on for dear life, to MY FOREHEAD!
Tigger was a pretty independant sort of a cat but he would let you know when his needs weren't being met...usually at 2.00am howling at you cos his food bowl was empty.
Hubby reckoned Tigger had well and truly used up his nine lives. The breeder made us promise that Tigger would be an inside cat you see, this was never.ever.going.to.happen! From the minute we got him home and he swiped the dog on the nose for looking at him funny he was the boss, and he was GOING OUTSIDE! That little ball of fluff would hide and race for the door as soon as it was opened. He started shredding all the screens, so we let him outside on a cat leash - yeah right. Who's stupid idea was that invention?
Tigger just laid on the ground like a 10 tonne weight refusing to move. Leash came off.
We didn't let him out at night tho....until it was a full moon, and I was tired from being up with Middle as a baby, and to my squinty tired eyes it certainly looked bright enough outside to be early morning, sure miaowy boy, you can go out now.
Yeah, it was about 2.30am...he dragged himself onto the deck about 7.00am with his back leg invisible to me, tucked up against his belly, much pitiful miaowing - teh vet said a dog had grabbed him and shaken him, shattering his femur - so he got pinned, had one leg 1cm shorter than the other...and recovered beautifully...he jumped onto our bed his first night home, whilst still pinned. Much better patient than I have ever been.
Then he discovered the joy of snakes! First morning he was laying flat out next to a coiled snake in the driveway - much poking of snake from a distance proved that snake was dead...or really fast asleep. Tigger lifted his very sleepy head....rush to vet, it's a whip snake, we'll monitor him for 24 hours but he'll mostly just swell up and build immunity to the bite - not very poisonous anyway.
Wish the vet hadn't told him that, he got quite partial to fighting with whip snakes and would wander inside with a massively swollen foot or face. Such a bloke.
Tigger has been pretty well behaved the last few years, then Tuesday night he thought it would be a good idea to follow my friend and I up the road. I told him to go home. I didn't however just pick him up and pop him back in the house did I. Cos I was running late for Zumba. Selfish.
My friend figured out what the noise was before I did. I heard a bang and a car stop just behind us. I thought, oh no, that poor girls car has broken down. My friend had such a horror filled look on her face - she'd been having a chat with Tigger just before we left, he liked a good chat.
I wondered why she was looking at me that way? I looked back over my shoulder and saw a little shape flopping in the road.
I looked back at my friend.
'Oh shit, it's Tigger'
I ran.
I scooped him out of the road.
And ran.
'NEV'
And yelled.
The poor girl who hit him left her car in the middle of the road, keys and wallet sitting there. She brought her phone in with her. She was sobbing. She had the emergency vet number in her phone. She has two cats, she was devestated.
Tigger started gurgling.
We got him to the vet, I didn't stop to let the kids talk to him. I didn't really think he wouldn't be coming home. There was no blood, no obvious breaks.
Blood in his lungs. $600 to $800 minimum. Fix our boy.
Fill in a form and just leave, we'll get on with it.
Really. Just leave. Just like that?
We did. We acted calm for the kids, we finished dinner. My friend had stayed and bathed and fed Middle and Youngest.
The vet rang at 11.00pm, he was quite optimistic. No breaks, just the blood in his lungs. No distressed breathing, wanting to keep him calm cos stressing will affect his ability to breathe. Blood should start reabsorbing.
The vet rang at 7.00am. Still going. Would have liked to have seen some improvement, some trying to move about. Will talk to other vets at 8.00am.
I continue the morning routines, I do the school run.
Hubby walks up the driveway to meet me, Tigger has just died. 'Did he really?' Yeah, cos that would have been a really good joke. What did I think he was going to say?
I cried, a lot. In the end it was a sudden deterioration, I hope he didn't suffer too much. I feel bad for leaving him there. He hated going to the vets. Hated it.
Tigger wouldn't even go to a cattery, we left him for nearly a week once, he didn't eat the whole time. Just sat in a tunnel growling at everyone and everything.
We didn't make him go again.
I brought him home. He's buried in our garden under a white sparkly rock. Eldest cried. He'd been really quiet, I wasn't really sure how he felt.
I'm so sorry Tigger that I didn't just stop and pick you up, scruff your head and put you back in the house. So sorry.

Monday hey...well whaddya know!
Those days just keep on rolling right on by and here we are in August.
Time is going far too fast for my liking, work needs to be done, money needs to be earned, bills need to be paid - and as fast as we earn it out it goes on stuff it wasn't meant to be spent on, hmmm, stuff that I don't want to spend it on more like!
Not that we are busily living the high life but, the car needs $1000 worth of work.
Hubby needs to go to the dentist...hmmm, I think we all do actually :(
Ya know, the usual stuff that happens to us all....one day I will win Lotto - sorry, I need to buy a ticket? Bugger, there goes that plan :)
Well, this is turning into a cheery little whingefest isn't it! And really, what do I have to complain about, yeah, not that much.
We're all pretty healthy ( at least we will be when we knock this round of the flu on the head!), we have our own home that we are busily working on improving, we have great friends, our families live overseas (YAY!) we have some awesome kids that we love to bits and we have each other - cringe, now it's gone from a whingefest to a love in!
Speaking of love in - did you see Channing Tatum lately?!
Achievements
- One load brought in,currently awaiting folding
- Another load hung out
- Another load sitting in the basket waiting to go out
- One child bathed
- One child refusing
- One child at Scouts
- Why has he left his half finished and overdue assignment all over my desk?
- Dinner cooked and demolished before 6pm :)
- Dishwasher emptied and mostly refilled
Thanks for listening :)

Sunday? What happened to all those other days?
...aaah, they were overrated, or underrated, I dunno, but chose to skip them, well, lets say I was busy. And I never promised to be here every day you know :)
Currently there is a line full of wet washing hanging on the line, it's 9pm so I'm not liking the chances of it drying very much!
Middle is in the bath and Youngest is in the shower, yelling and banging on the wall...be right back!
OK, now they are both in the bath, Youngest is still yelling and banging - as to the time of night that they are in the bath, it's school holidays, I was watching Master Chef with them, Hubby and eldest are out fishing - hmmm, any other slack ass reasons I can come up with? :)
Youngest thinks she likes a shower, what she really likes to do is draw on the lovely steamed up glass, who doesn't? I like checking out the interesting patterns that wet hair and shampoo leave behind :)
Back to Youngest, she doesn't like the water on her head, she'll bend over and back her behind under the water, she'll sit on the floor with her feet under the water and rub soap thru her hair - then she will scream blue murder while I try and rinse the soap out of her hair! I swear the neighbours think I am torturing the child! Sometimes I might like to, but no, generally speaking I am not inflicting hideous pain on my baby. Just trying to apply some soap and water.
Middle freely admits her hatred of the shower and will only have a bath, she must have a towel handy so that when I wash her hair she can wipe any stray drop of water from her face immediately! Not allowing her to instantaneously wipe hideous moisture from her face will ensure that the neighbours again think I am torturing another of my children!
Achievements this weekend, yes I am encompassing the whole weekend so that it seems like I did more stuff!
...folded laundry and put it away
...cleaned the kitchen
...promptly messed up the kitchen by cooking vege curry and baking a carrot cake
...cooked a vege curry and baked a carrot cake
...fed the family for the weekend, mostly, well, Hubby cooked brekky this morning (Thanks xx)
...got Eldest to clean the bathroom :)
...posted another post on my new blog :)
...did some office work (I know right, on the weekend and everything!)
...am going to go and finish cleaning the lounge and prepare some dinner for the fishermen!
Thanks for listening, see you soon :)

Wednesday comes after Tuesday...
...and so we go on :) I did get to Zumba class last night, it was great, I managed to not cough up a lung on the floor so that's good!
Doc appt showed Middle has an ear infection - antibiotics will help clear that up and her cough also, Youngest has a crackly chest - so yeah, antibiotics will help clear that up, and I have a chest infection - who woulda thunk it - so, you guessed it, antibiotics all round.
The Zumba seemed to move a lot of 'stuff' around so lots of coughing was had all night long, go antibiotics go, do your thing! Looking forward to Middle and Youngest feeling better also, what is up with the Tag Team action they have going on - has been starting around 1.30am, last night was every hour or so from 11.30pm - 'Hey, I'll have a coughing fit at 11.35pm, then you cry out for apparently no reason at 12.45am, then I'll need to go to the loo with assistance at 2.20am, then you can stumble into their room at about 3.30am, I'll throw another coughing fit at 4.13am and require my puffer - but not without chucking a screamfest first :)', yawn, what's that you say - Yes, I probably would feel better with a good nights sleep, thanks.
Achievements for yesterday ...some stuff got cleared off my desk
...made it to Zumba and enjoyed it
...got some dinner on for the family before I left
hmmmm, that's a very short list, on to it now - loads of paperwork to be done, loads of laundry to be done, loads of housework to be attended to....here I go :)

So, it's Tuesday...
...which means the beginning of the week as yesterday was Queens Birthday Holiday (Yay for holidays!).
I am not going to procrastinate today - which is why I choose to Blog first and work later? - well, after this is done I am not going to procrastinate!
Doc's appt this afternoon for Middle, Youngest and myself, the constant coughing, not to mention the constant whinging from Middle, has gone too far...medical attention please! I am supposed to be attending my first Zumba class tonight with friends. They look at me dubiously and ask if I am really up to it, dunno about up to it but I am so up for it :) Excercise is way way way overdue around these here body parts. I love to dance, grew up doing Jazz, Tap, Ballet and Highland so am looking forward to attempting some Zumba action!
Achievements yesterday... made a spicy Chorizo and Bean soup for lunch
... uncovered the floor in Middle and Youngest's room
... two loads of laundry done
...made 3 batches of scones, used 2 different recipes, I suck at scones
so was fairly pleasantly surprised with my efforts
...added a few more inches to Middle's scarf
...did the dishes -well, then I cooked and baked so it's a bit
of a mess again
...chicken schnitzels and salad for dinner
I'm here to focus on the postives so will not dwell on all the things I would have liked to do/didn't get done - those achievements are for today!
Fingers crossed - have a great day :)
